Apologies if this has been addressed before. I'm a noob here and didn't see my problem addressed in a quick search.

I work for a newspaper, and we received from a client a cmyk ad in which the black text was separating on all plates. They sent me the file in Illustrator, and I was able to change the text to 100 percent K. However, when I bring that document into InDesign (CS3), the text still separates onto all plates. It doesn't matter if I place the Illustrator file or a PDF saved from Illustrator (the PDF is our usual process).

I've double-checked my settings in Illustrator. Under Preferences/Appearance of Black, Printing/Exporting is set to Output All Black Accurately. When I Save As to a PDF, under Output, Color Conversion is set to Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers). When I view the PDF in Acrobat Pro's Output Preview, it shows the text as 100% black. And yet, as soon as it gets into InDesgin, it separates in the separations preview.

This ad is actually for a brochure we are creating for a client, and my boss says to run with what we've got and see how the proof looks, so I'm not on a tight deadline. But I'd appreciate some ideas in case the proof doesn't look too good. Thanks.
