    Hi,

    I have this great script Jongware made for me to change full state names to AP Style abbrevations. It is possible to run it only on a specific paragraph style.

    I am hoping to apply it only to captions and not the whole document.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Oh, this is the script for the abbreviations

    Copy/paste of my script seems to be backwards!

    Anyway, yes: it is possible to limit Find/Change to just one paragraph style, much as you could do it in the interface itself: all you need to add is the actual paragraph style name to be searched in.

    Add this line

    app.findGrepPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = “Your Style Name Here”;

    right before the line that says “app.activeDocument.changeGrep();”

    (Make sure you enter the correct paragraph style name in the new line.)

    I was confused about what I pasted too. I did a “select all” and pasted yet it didn't look the same as what I pasted. I even tried it twice.

    Anyway, as usual, your solution worked perfectly!

    You have saved me hours as I have 183 reports with no less than four instances where I have to fix this.

    (but don't tell my client about all that billable time you saved me, hee hee)
