Oldstyle numerals convert to small caps (or something?) when exporting

Can anyone make sense of this? I have some oldstyle figures that are changing to small caps (or something—not lining figures) when I export them. But it only happens to numbers (I mean numerals), not letters.

The INDD is correct. The PDF is incorrect.

I have a bunch of complex GREP styles and stuff that could be the source of the problem, but I don’t understand why they would change when I export them.

I don't have an answer, but I do have an observation. Did you happen to notice that it wasn't affecting your footnote numbering?

As a test, I would switch one of the problem numbers from italic to roman, export again, and see what happens. It may not reveal anything, but it might also narrow the focus of your investigation.

      Good luck.

Bob, thanks so much for your idea. I ended up leaving it as-is and rebuilding those paragraph and character styles in the next version of the document, and the problem is gone now, so I'm happy to forget about it.

I checked and it was not affecting my footnote numbering. Didn't try switching from italic to roman per your suggestion, but I'm happy to give it a shot if you're curious.

      Much obliged!

Not curious enough to put you to task. I'm happy to forget about it as well.
