Pasting text to an empty document, can the default frame be made to fit my margins automatically?

A minor annoyance, bugged me since forever.

If I paste text to a new ID document, by default it makes a small text box with a seemingly random size. Then I have to manually scale it… or I could draw an empty box to the size I want, and paste text into that.

I'd love it if I could press ctrl+V, and the text box was already sized to fit my page margins. Or if there were a keyboard shortcut that expanded any text box to fit my margins. Does this exist? Maybe a script could do it?

      G'day

If you import the text instead of pasting you will get the functionality you're looking for.

… or you could check the Primary Text Frame option when you first create the document.

and yes, a script could do it if either of those options doesn't suit.

Hrm, import is not quite right cuz I'm just pasting a snippet of text, and don't care to keep any formatting either. The primary text frame is closer to what I'm looking for. I still can't just ctrl+V but I can make my new document, double click the text frame, then ctrl+V. Guess that will have to do unless someone else writes a script just to save lazy guys like me that extra double click. Thanks for the reply!
