Hi everybody,
I am working on a thesis written in InDesign. I would like to create a list of figures. Using the TOC-functionality however only gets me halfway:
Each figure legend consists of an assigned number, the first sentence outlining the content of the figure followed by a punctuation mark. After that usually several sentences with detailed descriptions follow. Now for the list of figures, I only need that first sentence. Since you can't specify character styles for inclusion into the TOC, I get the whole figure legend within the list.
The way I am trying to solve this: I assign a nested style to the list of figures. The part of the text that I need to get rid of gets assigned a specific character style. Is there a way to select only the text with this style assigned and delete it? I've meddled with JavaScript to accomplish it, but couldn't get on the right track so far. If this works one would just have to run the script after building or rebuilding the list of figures to delete the unwanted text.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this problem (or better solutions of course).
Thank you very much in advance
