      Greetings all –

Newbie ID user here; just made the cold-turkey leap from 15+ years with Quark.

I understand that (like Quark) ID will automatically add colors to the swatches palette from imported graphics. For example, I import an EPS logo file that uses two PMS colors or two special CMYK mixes, those colors would then appear in the swatches palette.

However, that is not happening. I'm not sure if I have an incorrect setting somewhere, or if there is some other issue…but it's making me nuts.

Appreciate any thoughts you might share…

If you're importing/placing, ID should import spot colors but not special CMYK mixes. I'm assuming you're using AI, and if you want the entire swatch panel (except gradients and patterns), you can export an .ase (Adobe Swatch Exchange) file from AI and import it into ID. In both cases, the drop-downs from the Swatches panels will get you what you need.

Remember you can import native AI files.
