Hi everyone,
I have a medical document I am setting with many cross references in it all pointing to the same page. You can imagine the references:
4. Benson & Hedges et al Summary of Prod. Char 2007
5. Lambert J & Butler R, Correlation between refractory or intolerant dispocles 2007:1-5
etc etc
There are 49 of these, and they are referenced throughout the text with superscript numbers after pertinent phrases:
'When Benson investigated these, he found no correlation4' (where 4 is superscript)
I have set up the cross references with a custom setting using this definition:
<fullPara delim=”.” />
as I want the superscript numbers only to show the ref number and then stop. It works a treat and all the refs are in. However when I go to update the references, ie to add a new one in, sometimes I get a yellow 'update' icon, and sometimes I get a red 'broken' icon.
If I change ref '4. Benson & Hedges' to '5. Benson & Hedges', I get red links, whereas I would have expected ID to report this as an update. But if I update '13. Pearl & Dean' to '1x. Pearl & Dean' I get a yellow link. I can then change it to 'xx. P&D' and still get a yellow – but if I change it directly to 'xx. P&D' the link reports as broken.
What's going on? I assume it's to do with my custom definition, but I dont see what it could be. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Ra
