Problem Pasting Several Image Boxes into Another InDesign Doc

For a long time now I have been able to copy and paste selected images and text objects together (imagine selecting all – copying – opening a new document – and pasting) from InDesign CS3 to InDesign CS4… with the objects pasting in place and keeping their images in tact as scaled and as positioned.

Now, when I try to do that in CS5 most of the images are resized and repositioned in their boxes. The text is OK but the images are moving position and size within their boxes.

I have tried the 'preserve image dimensions when relinking preference' suspecting that it might be the culprit to no avail.

Does anyone else have this problem, and or a solution to it? I would appreciate any help.

Are you copying objects from CS3 and pasting into CS5? Or something like that? I do NOT recommend copying and pasting objects from one version to another. Scary. Have you tried exporting as a snippet (file > export, or drag and drop the objects to the desktop or a folder), and then placing the snippet into the other program?

David – thanks for your response. Actually I am copying items from one CS5 doc and then pasting it into another CS5 doc…

But… the snippets method did work without changing anything. Curious!

So as a workaround I can do it that way… it would be nice to understand why though.
