how can i add page numbers?

      hello! i cant add page numders to my book. i have created the text frames on the master pages and then select the type tool and go to Type>Insert Special Character > Auto Page Number>Current Page Number, but i cant clik on it.

      Do you mean you can't select this menu item? Is it gray (disabled)? Do the other functions in this menu work correctly?

      Make sure you're active in the text frame – select the type tool and click inside the text frame. Then use the command.

      @Jongware. Thats what i mean, the item is disabled (it is gray), and the other functions too.

      @ Eugene Tyson, thats exactly what i've done, but it didnt work :(
