I'm new here and to InDesign. I apologize if this is a redundant post but I've been unable to find the answers in any of the forums.

I have MS Word.docs with a combination of formatted text in open documents and/or text boxes and some text boxes that contain clipart and/or what InDesign calls a Glyph which is a Wingdings check box or bullet all depending on where I needed what within my Word Docs..

Starting from a blank Indesign Document I've been using PLACE to bring in the entire document at once to avoid cutting and pasting and to keep InDesign from seeing it as a graphic.

When I use PLACE, I identify any missing fonts then wind up with the text block cursor ready to be placed. It seems no matter where I place or paste it I get a jumble of all the text boxes literally all over the place. Some wind up off the page while others overlap and create a complete mess.

That wouldn't be so bad if all I had to do was drag the new text boxes into the correct places however, every box is Anchored both to the page and very often to another box surrounding the object(s) or text as well.

Even after going box by box to release the anchors, the anchor symbol stays there and I can't move the box to where ever I need it.

Is there a way to prevent all this? Can I place the Word.doc in the right place? Or if not, is there a way to do a mass release of all the anchors on the page?

      HELP?
