Once an InDesign document is saved, if I export it as a PDF it's size is 3 times bigger than before !

      I did this test :

      • I open a new document and add 100 pages of text.
      • I export it as a PDF (Interactive or Print doesn't matter, it's the same problem) and the file size is 312 ko
      • Then I save as… the document.
      • Reexport and now the PDF is 28,1 Mo.
      • I have tried to reduce it's size using Acrobat Pro X but at the end, the size is the exactly the same.
      • I've read that exporting again the document fix the problem but it doesn't.

Anyone had this problem ? Is it a bug ? Is it a know error ?

My config : Mac OS 10.7, InDesign CS5.5

Thanks to the link you gave me and after some tests, I've found the source of the problem.

I'm a bit ashamed to say it :

In the preferences, under “file management”, the box to save very big thumbnails for all the pages of the document was checked.

These images are for some reason added to the metadata of the exported PDF under xmp:PageInfo (seq container).

      25 Mo back to 500 ko !

      Thanks again David
