Does anyone know why, in my copy of CS5, raster images of any kind look like crap, even though my default display performance is set to high? Thanks in advance!

Because InDesign only uses a low-res proxy of the image, even in High Quality display, it's only showing a proxy of the image.

What matters is how it outputs to the printer or to PDF.

There could be things at play here though. I find Photoshop EPS images always look terrible, and I dislike that format anyway, so I save them TIFF or PSD where possible.

You might have your display set to High Quality, but you can also set your images to have their own display setting, select an image and go to Object>Display Performance and clear Object Level Display

Check the Preferences>Display Performance and make sure nothing unusual is set there that could cause this.

That's all I can think of for now?
