I am working with layered ID files I didn't create to build Microsoft Word templates for a client. A key design element on the ID file is a colored text frame with a (larger than the text frame) vector graphic pasted inside the text frame.
I was originally exporting the page layers containing the common graphic elements to PDF, then importing those PDF pages into Word as the “stationery” backdrop for the Word templates. In the last couple of weeks, the client has been seeing the full vector image that was constrained within the colored text frame appearing on the screen of their Word 2007 on Windows XP. I'm building the templates in Word 2011 for Mac. What's changed is an update to Office 2011.
My question is “Can I export the pages from my ID file into some format that crops the vector to the bounding box of the text frame? If I could do that, Word wouldn't be able to misinterpret the data within the background graphic, because it wouldn't be there.
It's a pretty rarified problem, but hopefully someone may have come up against this before, and have a solution.
Cheers,
Bruce
