      Hello!

I am new to InDesign (using CS4) and I have a job to do that I need a little help with. I need to convert a hardcover book (5.5″x8.25″) to a paperback (5.1875″x7.625″) and keep all the same page numbers, line breaks, etc. I have figured out how to scale the pages and images with layout adjustment, but I am not sure how to adjust the text to keep everything looking the same. If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it!

      Thanks!

The only thing that should change size is the cover?

Thanks for responding! However, in this case, everything needs to be sized down- the images, the text, everything.

If they do genuinely want you to scale down the text and images, rather than just trimming a little bit off the margins (which seems a bit odd to me, but then clients do request the strangest things), wouldn't you be better off scaling down the entire PDF as a whole in Acrobat? Print the file from Acrobat as a PDF and set your desired paper size in the print dialog box. I can explain how to do that on a Mac if you need me to; I assume it would be similar on Windows.

(Forgot to mention: this doesn't work in the latest versions of Acrobat, which don't allow you to print to PDF.)

Thanks! I'll give that a try!
