File Name Text variable not displaying correctly

      I have used a File Name text variable with “Include File Extension” UNCHECKED. It displays in the ID document as expected (“File Name”), and the PDF is fine as well. But when I then place that InDesign document as a graphic into another InDesign document, the filen name text variable now displays as “File Name.indd” in the second ID document. It appears to be a bug. Does anyone know of a workaround? I made a custom variable and manually typed in the filename, but now I can't use the dynamic filename variable.
