I am curious to know how many corporate designers out there are using InDesign 5 or if their company is still stuck on an older version? Due to the recession and cutbacks, my company still won't upgrade me to InDesign 5. I am still on CS3! This worries me in relation to job-seeking. I am concerned that I won't be as attractive a candidate if I am not experienced in the most up-to-date software. So I was just curious how up-to-date the rest of the world is, and if i'm sadly being left in the dust all on my own.

It's a great question. At recent events I've been at, it's something like 60% CS5 users, 30% CS4, and 10% CS3 and earlier. But it's very hard to quantify, and of course it's somewhat biased (because people who keep up with the software are also the ones who often want to keep up with the new technologies and want to keep learning, etc.)

The company I work for recently (last November) upgraded to CS5 but we have kept CS3 for one client. Granted the upgrade was also to Intel machines so it is a pricey move, however, not doing so was not a choice as a big client was also making the move to CS5, but it was time we did so.

Here in the UK, there seem to be plenty of design agencies and similar companies using CS3 among my clients. Even some using earlier versions than that. Hard to put a figure on it though.
