      Hi everyone :)

I'm working in a small in-house printing office at a university where we spend a lot of time making covers for students bachelor-/master-/doctoral thesis'. The cover template got a colored block that goes across the front to the back with a solid color with some text on it in black.

The thing is that the university has 12 colors for students to choose from where four of them are meant to be used with white text and not black. I see that a lot of covers that are made with these four colors are printed with black text (and it just irritates me), so I was wondering if there is any way to automatically change the textcolor from black to white when the background is changed?

In advance, thanks for all help and have a great weekend :D

Get them to use Object Styles

You can set up multiple Styles depending on what's needed and you can set the Paragraph style within the Text Frame.

You'll need Multiple Paragraph Styles for each version.

Then Multiple Object Styles – named like Black Background White Text

If you need more help let me know

Yeah, there is no “automatic” way to do it. What I want even more than that is a way to have text change even in the middle automatically… you know, like if the text is half over white and half over a dark color? You can fake it in various ways, but there is no good solution. (Well, at least none that print well.)

Hmm light-sensitive type options! I like it! Actually it's been requested a billion times before. I'm sure if there was a way to do it easily it would be done by now?
