I have been playing around with the interactive pdf format and with some lateral thinking getting some real interactivity, creating documents with menu systems and galleries and keeping it to the core of native pdfs instructions no flash.
Although i have been trying to get clients involved with interactive pdfs for the last 10 years or so. This recession has seen many of my customers make that switch from print to interactive pdfs. CS5 really make my life easy and just when you think you may have it sorted, along comes apple with its ipad.
I have been looking at finding away of getting these pdfs on to the ipad they are limited in distribution and are provided free by the clients, not sold so will not warrant the new Adobe Digital Publishing System.
The pdf do not function on an IOS device like they do on a computer even though they have no flvs or swfs
Is Adobe going to Acrobat for the ipad? Probably not as it seems to linked with the fortunes of Flash so it seems the html5 and canvas will have to be the way forward.
I have noted that Illustrator has an html5 pack and there is a canvas plugin available. It strikes me that the same kind of plugin for ID CS5 would seem like like a good option. I would propose that there are a few people out there wondering how to get marketing literature that is now commonly created in interactive pdf format on to the ipad, especially with it's rise in the corporate world.
I have looked at ePub format its not suitable the perfect format would be pdf but for this spat between adobe and apple. Has anyone got any thought or insight in to how to resolve this issue.
