Bleed Issue

I recently noticed that the bleed on each chapter of my book had changed from 0.125 in to 0.1667 in.

I don't recall changing the bleed, so I don't know why the change happened, other than maybe a glitch when the files were updated from CS4 to CS5.

Is there a way to globally change the bleed back to the original dimensions on all my chapters?

      Thanks.

I don't think there is any way to do this besides manually or scripting. Very strange that it would change like that. Of course, the bleed guides are just guides, so it is perhaps not important that you change them.

Yes, it is yet another strange issue.

I do see that I can change the bleed from the print dialog box. I presume changing the bleed won't affect my margins or gutter areas.

I need the pages of my pdf book to be 8.75″ x 11.25″ — which is the reason for the 0.125 bleed all around.

On a related note: in the print dialog box, dimensions keep defaulting to picas instead of inches—and it is inches that I want. How do I set this up so that inches are the default here?

In preferences, my ruler units for horizontal and vertical are set to inches.

      Thanks.

Strange that your measurements are changing. What do the rulers show around your document? If you right-click on the area where the two rulers meet, you should be able to change them both to inches (or whatever you want) and then the rulers and the Print dialog box should show in inches (or whatever you choose).
