Index Maintenance: Preserving Hyperlink Destinations

      Wonder if anyone has encountered this situation and come up with a solution. As editor of a monthly newsletter for a Civil War round table, one of my tasks is to maintain an index of topics and articles across several years' worth of issues. This means adding a new document each month to the index book, new index entries, and regenerating a new master to integrate the whole thing together.

      In the master pages I'd like to set up 26 buttons with hypertext destinations to all the letters for easy PDF navigation around the index. Unfortunately, the need to regenerate the entire index each month kills the destination references. Appreciate any clever work-arounds or techniques anyone has to keep the buttons working month after month.
