New Charting Database Download from FileMaker Brings Data to Life
FileMaker announces a new download that demonstrates how FileMaker Pro 8.5 users can view information from their databases as dynamic Flash-based HTML charts. The FileMaker Web Viewer Charting Example Database gives extra “visual punch” to better understanding such business reports as product sales by geographical and year-to-year comparisons (downloadable now at www.filemaker.com/products/fmp/charting.html).
The Web Viewer Charting Example Database takes advantage of the new FileMaker Pro 8.5 Web Viewer with a number of ready-to-use examples including 3D pie and bar charts, line charts, scatter charts and Gantt charts.
“The most important role of a database is not to simply manage information but to help organizations run smarter,” said Ryan Rosenberg, vice president of marketing and services, FileMaker, Inc. “Turning data into impactful charts helps businesses make better –and faster-decisions.”
Charting Samples Range from Basic to Advanced
The introductory example in the Web Viewer Charting Example Database displays data from four database fields as a 3D pie chart in the Web Viewer. The intermediate-level charting sample displays up to 12 fields either as a 3D pie chart or bar chart. A Copy button is conveniently included on the introductory and intermediate chart layouts, allowing you to add pie and bar charts to other FileMaker databases by simply updating field names and field labels. More advanced users can deploy more complex charting options. For beginners who want to learn more about database charting, there is an online tutorial available at https://www.filemaker.com/products/fmp/chart_tutorial.html.
Application Requirements
The Web Viewer Charting Example Database only runs with FileMaker Pro 8.5 and FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced over both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. The download also includes associated HTML and SWF files necessary for displaying the Flash-based HTML charts included in the Example Database. The Adobe Flash Player, available for download from the Adobe website, is also required to view Flash-based HTML charts.
