I am using InDesign CS5 on a PC and have laid out a book with 23 chapters. I have the book contents in one Master section for continuous page numbering flow. But I want a different header for each chapter. Do I need to create 23 different Masters with the 23 different headers? Or should I “override” the master by manually typing in the Header?

As you can tell, I'm a Newbie. Thank you,

      Hi Lucinda!

No you don't have to create 23 seperate masters.

One way to solve it would be to insert a Section Marker (Type / Insert Special Character / Markers / Section Marker) where you want the title to appear.

Then at the start of each chapter define a new section (if you use a separate file for each chapter you can just use the already defined one ofcourse) and insert your chapter title in the Section Marker field in the Layout / Numbering & Section Options.

      Hope this helps.
