Hey everyone, this is a basic one but I'm having trouble. Perhaps the election results are distracting me.

I have a longish doc where I've used the auto page numbering on master pages. I'd like the page numbering to start with '1' on page 3 of the document (allowing for cover and inside front cover). I don't have the master pages applied to the first two pages.

Problem when I go under 'Layout > Numbering & Sections' and make the change a bunch of my spreads move, double numbering appears on some pages and the kicker is that the actual numbering still isn't starting where I want. The doc is set up as facing pages.

I'm obviously overlooking something because this has always worked in the past.

      Thoughts?

      p.s. I'm using CS4 on a Mac.

      Thanks in advance!

Understandable to be distracted by the election results! Strange days are upon us!

Select page 3 in the Pages panel, then choose Numbering & Section Options from the pages panel menu and set it to page 1. Now you'll have two page 1s in the doc, so you can select the first page and change it to roman numerals or something.

Thank you David, so simple and obvious but I knew there was a step I was missing. Your suggested produced the expected result.
