Hi Guys, can someone please help me?!!?!?

I'm trying to simply rotate an image, taht's all – and every time I do it in indesign the rectangle ends up looking so pixelated (Even when I change display performance to High Level) it's tear-inducing – and also the writing in it looks crazy and not on a straight line at all …

Why is this?? Even when I place an image from photoshop (after rotating it) it still looks rubbish…

Can someone please help this poor and ignorant peasant find his way with Indesign??

Does it happen at all rotations? Does it happen when you zoom in and out? All images, including TIFF and PSD and JPEG? Just trying to get a handle of what might be going on.

Text inside a bitmapped image will almost never look good when rotated, but it shouldn't look horrible…

      Hi, thanks for the reply

It seems to happen with all rotations – even when the rectangle is created in indesign itself and then rotated.

Yes it does happen with PSD files (haven't yet tried JPeg or Tiff) – but I imagine this is because PSD is bitmap?? Is this still the case when the image itself is still a vector (and hasn't yet been rasterised) in PSD??

Is this pixilating worse than in previous versions of InDesign?
Have you, perhaps accidentally, changed the graphics qualities in the preferences so even high quality previews look low quality?

Perhaps if no obvious solution works, you could upload a screenshot of the pixilation problem along with the image you placed so someone can try to replicate the problem?

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. I became very dismayed with the idea of not being able to get this fixed, but I do need to get this fixed.

      Anyone have any ideas?

Roland – i would love to but have no idea how to upload a pic that has no url. The only screenshot I can do will be on my hard drive ???

I think you'll find that the images are fine. Remember you are only looking at a low res preview anyway. Even text when rotaed can look horrible until you print. Make a PDFx1a pdf of the page and see if it looks ok. Should be fine

      Hi dstanl,

Thanks for the info. I have tried to put it into PDF, and it doesn't look as bad as I thought originally, but it still doesn't look as perfect as it should.

How do i upload a screenshot into a message to show ppl?

You can upload your picture to a free image hosting site or your own website and paste the URL to the image itself using the “Insert/edit image” button (it looks like a tree) when you post a reply.
