No swatches on the side?

      I opened a book that I have been working on and the side panel of all of the swatches is blank. I opened another book and the same, no swatches show.

      So, I went to add a swatch and did so, but nothing appeared.

      Not only do none of the swatches appear on the side, but there is nothing on the bottom(trash can, new swatch…).

      What DID I do and what can I do to repair this? I need to have the swatches appearing and I have no idea what I need to do.

      I'm using Windows – CS5.

      Quit and restart. If that doesn't work, then rebuild preferences.

      I was forced to rebuild.

      Ctrl, Alt & Shift when I restarted and said yes to erase my preferences. I had to go back in and reset the way I had the program set, but at least everything went back to normal.
