I am creating a library in CS3 which includes both page elements and guides. My problem lies in placing guides on RH pages.

My preference would have been to create items based on a spread (facing pages), but I found that only one page at a time copied guides to the library item. So I changed my approach and created items designated as L or R pages. I set up a sample spread and used the command “Add items on Page X” to copy both page elements and guides.

This seemed to work until I tested pasting a library item onto a RH page 1, rather than onto the RH page of a pair of facing pages. The guides which had formerly appeared in position now appeared way off on the right pasteboard.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? Found a workaround? Thanks in advance for any elaboration on the mysteries of guides and RH pages…

I think I may have found the problem. In Prefs: Units & Increments: ruler origin should be set to “Page” (not “Spread”).

Cool. Sounds like its either a real bug, or simply something Adobe's programmers did not foresee.

Report it to the Feature Request/Bug Report form — you never now, it might get fixed in the next dot release.
