Ok this is just me being overly critical of a feature added to InDesign. With each new feature I hope to find a way to improve on it. Today I was looking at Live Captions, and with only about 10 minutes on the clock of using the feature I realised it was missing something.
In the caption setup you can't select an Object Style – can you?
Usually when I do a style I do it manually to get a feel for it, then I create the appropriate style.
I was doing this today to get Live Captions working and see if it was useful, but I don't see a setting for an Object Style. That could have housed everything, the effect of 90% transparency, the rounded corners, the paragraph style, etc.
With one click I could in theory get all my captions done, but they forgot to add the object style to the frame that it inserts or the ability to add an object style.
I was saying on the Layers Magazine website that Metadata Panel in InDesign would have been more useful than having to add the metadata in Bridge (and that was before I even opened CS5 and had a look). Now that I have looked, I still say a metadata panel would be useful. It could be accessed through the links for example.
Is there anything more you'd like to see with live captions?
