I am preparing a job for digital print which is a bunch of TIF images arranged randomly, some on top of each other. They all have a drop shadow and border set as an object style.

When I print direct from Indesign CS3 I get very visible dark or light patches on the pictures underneath. When I create a PDF (which I don't tend to do on other jobs) it is better but still visible. Have tried the different PDF types and have changed the transparency flattener to high, but to no avail.

      Anyone help?

Cheers Philip @ Prontoprint in Spain

I should mention that it prints fine when the drop shadows are switched off.

When you say you print, what are you printing on? A postscript printer? Or a proofing inkjet or laser device?

I'm not sure what you mean by visible light and dark patches. The drop shadows will, of course, create “dark patches,” no? Can you take a small screen capture of part of the page, put it someplace on the web, and use the image link button here in a post to point to it?

Before I go to all that aggro I'll try and explain better.

I am printing to a Digital press (OKI C9800) directly from my Mac. The problem I am getting is that the pictures are in frames at various angles. Once the drop shadows are added the pictures underneath generally show a light rectangle behind the uppermost image, effectively making the pictures at the bottom having light patches on them. The option flattener preview/highlight transparent objects shows me exactly what it is doing.

      But I can't fix it !!!

      Cheers

      Indeed it did thank you.

Never spotted the overprint option, whatever that means!!

      Thanks again Philip :)
