I'm running CS4 on a mac and I keep getting this error when I try to export my book to Digital Editions. I've looked everywhere for an answer to this problem, but all I find is code. I even emailed and called an online tutorial “expert” and he hung up on me. Guess he didn't know the answer either. Can anyone here please help me?

The way you've created your file is quite tedious and precise (think of the use of paragraph/character styles). Look for some step by step tutorial on the web -there are really hundreds of them. They've really helped me out.

It's very hard to know what could be wrong here, but I wonder if perhaps some kind of minor document corruption has snuck in. You might try exporting the document as INX or IDML, then opening that file, then exporting to epub. Does that work?

Also look out for “weird” characters in linked file names as well as in your main file.

What is “weird”? Well, anything inside A..Z and 0..9 ought to be safe (I'm quite sure).

Thank you everyone for your smart suggestions. After much troubleshooting I decided to move to another computer in the office. 3rd one was a charm. However I do agree that the (re)formatting of a printed book file, prior to exporting to an epub format is quite cumbersome. Ugh! Looking forward to a simpler route.
