Berthold Releases Formata in OpenType

Berthold Types, a leading independent type foundry and successor to the H. Berthold foundry, announced the release of Formata Pro in OpenType format in both PostScript and TrueType flavors.
Formata Pro offers extended language support for Central European, Baltic and Turkish as well as Welsh, archaic Danish and Esperanto.
Formata, designed by Bernd Moellenstaedt, was first released in 1984. Instead of linear severity common to many sans serifs, Formata offers curved strokes and interesting details that are subtle in smaller sizes but distinguishable in larger sizes, thus, appropriate for both text and display. The family has an extensive weight range including an outline weight, expert characters and condensed weights. This latest release of Formata Pro adds to its appeal to users with global business and communication needs who desire a unique and modern persona.
Other recent OpenType releases by Berthold include Akzidenz-Grotesk Pro PostScript flavored, Akzidenz-Grotesk Std in PostScript and TrueType flavors and the Berthold BE Collection fonts in PostScript flavor.
Building on its strong heritage, Berthold Types, successor to the highly regarded H. Berthold type foundry, looks back onto a history of 148 years of distinguished type design. Lange, along with Bernd Moellenstaedt and Dieter Hofrichter, form the core of Berthold’s ‘Type Atelier’ located in Munich and Berlin to provide an indispensable element in the continued development of the Berthold Exklusiv typefaces.
