Hello, I have question about Master Page guides.

I am working on a publication redesign and have created one Master Page for the folios, upon which all my other masters are based. I have also placed some guides on that central Master, which I would like to remove from some of the others. It appears that you cannot override and delete guides from a Master when those guides were created in the “based on” Master – when I try to shift-option-command-select the guide as I would with an Master page object, nothing happens.

I should note I am still on Indesign CS3 (upgrading later this year).

I suppose I will need to create one Master page with JUST the folios, then create my guides in Masters based on that, but I was wondering if I'm missing something – it just seems weird to have Master guides that you cannot override.

If you Ctrl + Shift (or CMD + Shift) and click outside the page where the ruler is it won't disconnect from the master page.

If you do the same inside the page area the ruler is freed.

Huh. How do you like that? I don't why I couldn't figure that out yesterday, it seemed like I was trying every keyboard combo in the book and I couldn't free up the guides. Thanks very much!
