      Hi everyone

Is there a way of cross-referencing footnotes? I work on books for a Law book publisher, and they have cross references to footnote numbers throughout the main text and even the footnotes themselves. For example 'see Ch.12 fn8'. Now due to law changes etc., they are always adding new footnotes and so the footnote numbers are always changing, so the example above can become out of date as it may need to change to 'see Ch.12 fn11'. If this number can be updated automatically when the footnote number changes that would be great.

      Any ideas?

      Cheers

You can point the cross-ref. to the footnote according to the footnote style, but unfortunately, you can't ask it to retrieve the footnote number for the cross-ref. string (like you can do with an auto numbered paragraph).

      Hi,

you can do this with our Cross-References PRO plug-in https://www.dtptools.com/cross-references . Footnotne number is one of the supported format elements.
