I am using DIN 2014 font on a number of jobs – it is the font the client’s brand guidelines require.

On previous documents when I have the word “Official” it auto joins the second “f” with the “I” and removes the dot. In the past I have highlighted the two letters and activated the drop down Open Type menu to change to standard letters. In my new InDesign document this does not work any more – even if I paste the text block from my previous indesign file in to the new one.

      Very strange, any ideas?

What happens if you go to the Character panel, drop-down menu, and uncheck “Ligatures”?
Or a clunky workaround – insert a zero-width space between the offending letters?

Personally, I’d leave the ligature there, as some typeface designer has gone to the trouble of trying to make it look nice!
      Good luck,
      Chris

Turn off Ligatures in the Basic Character Formats section of Paragraph Style Options.

      Thanks Mike,
      That has worked a treat!
