      Dear,

I am experiencing a very big problem in an Indesign file of more than 500 pages, with two language layers.

When copying the text layer, somehow the text layer no longer appears on some spreads. Copying and pasting also no longer works from one layer to the other on these specific spreads. However, this has nothing to do with text wrapping, ignoring text wrap or anything like that. When selecting objects on the layer, only small squares appear.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Many thanks in advance.

      Kind regards,
      Dylan

You’re absolutely certain that all text boxes/stories are on the originating layer?
Can you screenshot (David Blatner – get the forum to have this ability!)

They must be. Because when I select and copy the dissapearing frames on the spreads, and duplicate them on the other text layer they appear there. But the other way around does not work. I can’t get my mind around it.

@Steve: yeah, we’re working on some new possibilities for forums/discussion boards. We definitely want the option to upload images someday. I know just adding links is a pain.

@Dylan: This does sound weird. I assume you know about the “Paste Remembers Layers” option in the Layers panel menu. That’s not it?

I would also look in the layers panel to see if there are any objects or layers ABOVE what you are pasting. Perhaps the objects are there, but they’re being covered up.

Of course, it’s possible that the document is also experiencing some corruption. So it might be worthwhile to export as IDML, and then open the IDML file. That sometimes clears up problems.

      Hello,

Yes I am familiar with this, unfortunately this had nothing to do with it.
Indeed, it seems that the file became corrupted on abruptly shutting down Indesign.
Fortunately, I found a simple solution, by duplicating the “corrupt” spreads, the disappeared text layer reappears.

Thank you all for looking into it as well.

      All best,
      Dylan
