One article in a 146-page magazine (done in one giant InDesign file) uses footnotes. As I’m nearing the finish line, adding a two-page article at the back of the magazine, I noticed all my text looked weird. As I create new text boxes, superscript (T1) seems to be selected. Looking in the style options, I can’t find the superscript option, but it seems present and now seems to default to superscript as I create new text frames. Any thoughts?

You selected it when nothing else was selected on the page (no text, no text frame…). To reset it, deselect again everything and click on the “None” char style.
