I created an InDesign “BOOK,” then imported three different documents — files named A, B, C. Changing the middle of a book (a novel) won’t disrupt the surrounding elements (copyright notice, about the author, etc.) When I want InDesign to export the Book to a PDF file, the last page of part one (A) and the first page of part 2 (B) don’t face each other. They appear as separate, individual pages … NOT facing pages like a book.

Does InDesign have a correction for this, or is this an aspect of the “Book” they never considered?

I think what you’re talking about is called “imposition.” InDesign’s book feature does not do imposition.
