When exporting an Indesign (CS6) file to epub, the epub pages are in reverse order. Only happens with one book, (I’ve done several other books, with no problems) the pages are reversed even on multiple computers, so it’s not my reader. Can’t find any preference to alter this nor export options.
      Any help out there?

Wow, that is pretty weird. Literally, the last page of the InDesign document is the first page of the EPUB?! I can’t even see how that would happen. Unless somehow the document was stuck in Right-to-Left mode (like Hebrew) or something? Still probably not… just grasping at straws.

One idea: export the InDesign file as IDML and then open the IDML file and try exporting to EPUB. If there is any weirdness/corruption with the file, that should clean it up.

Thanks for the quick reply, David!
I tried the IDML and no luck.
The pages in my “Pages” menu are in the proper order.
How do I find the options for “Right-to-Left mode (like Hebrew)”? I have done some manuscripts in the past with hebrew words in the text, perhaps some preference was saved that shouldn’t have been???

You typically need a ME (middle-eastern) version of InDesign to create R-to-L documents. I don’t think that’s it, as the Pages panel looks correct.

Are you using in the Articles panel?

I’ve never used the articles panel, not sure what it does, but I opened it and it says, “no content.”

Thanks again, David, I’ll start learning the Articles panel.
      Cheers!

Hi, Michael, did you ever solve the problem of the backward page numbering? I dont find a solution anywhere.

I have still not found why this is happening. I have made hundred of ebooks successfully, yet a handful of epubs still come out with the pages reversed.
      • The ONLY clue I’ve found so far is that the page numbers in the pages panel are in brackets, like this: [2 – 3] while in my normal documents they are displayed without brackets, like: 2 – 3.

Does this mean anything? Please help David!!

Wow, that’s fascinating, Michael. Good sleuthing. Brackets mean that those pages have been “stuck together” as an “island” spread. See:

What Are Those Brackets in the Pages Panel?

Thanks, David. I got rid of the brackets…and it’s still saving the pages as an epub in reverse order…
