Got a smartphone or tablet? Like macro photography? Then you might want to check out the Micro Phone lens, a Kickstarter project by Seattle-based engineer Thomas Larson to develop a microscope lens that fits on mobile devices like iPhones and iPads.

The Micro Phone Lens has already been successfully funded, with over 2000 backers to date, and will ship sometime in October 2013.
Here are the technical specs on the Microphone Lens.
Base magnification: 15X
Max magnification: 60x with phone zoom
Minimum recommended camera: 5 Megapixels
Product diameter: 1/4” ( Approx. 6 mm)
Larson’s future plans include the development of another version of the Micro Phone lens with 150x magnification power (ten times that of the original model). If successful, it would open up a whole new realm of micro-mobile photography and video and allow you to carry a miscroscope in your pocket.
