TOC text malfunction

      I had a TOC created and it was fine, now suddenly there is extra text in the TOC even though it does not show on the page where the text occurs. It looks like this has been a common problem in InDesign, but the forums just mention a “workaround.” Does anyone know what that would be? When I look at the page I can not see where the text comes from.

      Can you perform a search for the text, include hidden/locked layers and masterpages, so you can locate the text. See if there is no hidden textflow. Then do a search on the paragraph style of the title that is used to fill the TOC and see if the text comes out.

      Excellent, thank you very much.
      When I did a copy /paste of the text it showed up in the search box as caret x. I chose change to blank and it disappeared. Hurray! Just did a generate of TOC and it did not return.
      that was my whole agenda for today, to solve that problem, you made it so effective. Thanks a lot.
