We’ve all seen and used our share of “light” typefaces, but have you ever seen type literally made of light? That’s what Russian designer Rus Khasanov has created using magnifying glasses and sunlight in a series of photos and animations called Lumen.
Check out the video below to see how flickering sunbeams make the letters of Lumen type come alive.
Lumen is just one example of Khasanov’s experimental typography. The letterforms in Sunbeam type are made of tiny rainbows dispersed from sunlight.
The type in SUPERBUGS was made from bacteria.
BLOW type features hypnotically shifting colors made from liquid.
And Sweet Dust type was made from motes of dust.
So the next time you clean up around the house, take a closer look. You might be vacuuming up the next great typeface.
