Now that I’m processing a lot of my son’s schoolwork I’m trying to streamline the process. One valuable tool has been Pages. He often types up an assignment in Pages, which saves the file to my iCloud folder. I can access this from my Mac. I open the Pages file, copy the text, switch to Indesign, which I am more comfortable with, and paste it into the schoolwork template I prepared earlier. Usually the assignments are small enough that I don’t worry about losing formatting. I then apply the styles in the template, export to PDF, then upload to the school for the teacher to grade.
What would streamline the process would be a way to drag the Pages files right into Indesign. I could eliminate (1) Open Pages, (2) Open document, (3) Select text, (4) Switch to InDesign, and (5) Paste. I haven’t found a way to import Pages files. Exporting to a readable format like RTF or Text wouldn’t save time; I’d rather tick with the clipboard.
Does anyone have a way to work directly with pages documents in Indesign?
