Layer hierarchy from one document to another

      I am creating a small 8 page tabloid/catalog where I include the same fields (description, quantity, item number, etc.) for each product, including a retail and wholesale price. I merge the data from a csv file and have each price in its own layer which allows me to hide one or the other as needed. Up to this point it all works well. But when I copy/paste each product from the merged document into the tabloid document I lose the original layers.

      Is it possible to retain layer structure when moving data from one document to another?

      This Week’s Tip from InDesign Secrets: To copy a layer from one document to another, make sure Paste Remembers Layers is selected in the Layers panel menu, then copy an object from the desired layer and paste it into the other document.
