      Hello,

I wonder if someone can advise me on a problem I see to be experiencing in ID?

I’m trying to flow in copy from a Word doc into my ID file – estimate it’ll be a large one at around 600 pages – but the autoflow seems not to be working as I’d expect.

Here’s what happens: I clear out the copy from the old 81-page ID doc, then paste in the new, much longer Word text – but then it brings up a dialogue box stating “Spread cannot have more than 10 pages.” I have no option but to click OK. The ‘Pages’ palette then shows a 10-page spread at the bottom of the ID file, which stops at pp87, and does not flow in the rest of the Word text. Basically, I need to flow it all in in one hit, keeping the Master Page setup as is.

The ID file is set up in paired pages, not ‘facing’ pages, with handed Master pages to left & right, ie ‘D’ to the left, ‘C’ to the right.

The 10-page spread is comprised of the required D & C pages then 8 pages of master page ‘C’

A screenshot would probably help explain it better, but I can’t see if it’s possible to add one to this post…

      Any ideas/workarounds very much appreciated!

I’m guessing you need to turn on “allow document pages to shuffle” and also select the spread and choose “allow selected spread to shuffle” in the Pages panel menu.

Looking better, thanks David – had to do a bunch of relinking but “allow document pages to shuffle” was unchecked in the template document, as was “allow selected spread to shuffle”. Have left the first unchecked, but checked the second and it’s looking better. Bit late ‘over the pond’ here, so I’m turning in for the night! Thanks again!
