Does anyone know why my PhotoShop images – which are definitely CMYK – show as RGB in the Links panel?

Why do you think they are CMYK?
Personally, I think you should keep them as RGB.

Thanks for your response. I “think they are CMYK” because they are ;) For some reason, Adobe Acrobat produces washed-out images – particularly reds – when it converts to CMYK, which I can fix only by starting with CMYK.

If your PDF gets washed out when you convert to CMYK from InDesign, you are doing it the wrong way :)
Like David says, keep your images in RGB.

Make sure, that you choose the correct profile when converting.

The “Engine” within InDesign is excactly the same as in PhotoShop, so it makes no sense converting them in PhotoShop.

Have you tried opening the Photoshop file, and using Save As? I wonder if there is some metadata in the file that is wrong and Save As might fix it.
