Improve Your Display's Color Accuracy

For many years, graphic designers and photographers have been on a quest for the elusive WYSIWYG color workflow; that is, color that looks the same on your monitor as it does on the final printed piece. To achieve this holy grail, you must color-calibrate as many pieces of the puzzle as possible.
X-Rite has just released two products designed to profile and color calibrate computer monitors, laptop screens, and even projectors. The i1Display Pro and ColorMunki Display combine hardware and software to get your color closer to the ideal.
The $189 ColorMunki Display calibator and profiler is the less expensive of the two and easier to implement, thanks to its presets and wizard interface. (There’s also an Advanced mode for those more comfortable with color science.)

The i1Display Pro is $269, and for that higher price, you can expect more precise color control than is possible with ColorMunki Display. When you’re in a hurry, though, you can use i1Display Pro’s Basic mode to speed the calibrating and profiling process.

Both products come with a new colorimeter that measures ambient light and profiles displays and projectors.
