Nested style for running header won't work?

      I’m guessing this is a limitation of the Running Header but thought I would ask. I’ve tried nesting styles for the running header but I can’t get it to work. I thought maybe I did it wrong, but when I style normal text it works. Is there a way to make it work? Why wouldn’t nested styles work for a running header?

      Running headers are usually variables, and variables usually act like a single character. It’s one character that looks like a word or sentence or something.
