      Hi everyone

I’m new to this forum and in need of some assistance, I have checked other items on the forum but none of the information I’ve found seems to resolve my issue.

We have just upgraded to InDesign 2019 on Windows 10 in our office and have been noticing that images are resizing when their links are updated.
After scouring the internet for a solution all the obvious suggestions seem to have no effect. “File handling/preserve image dimensions when re-linking” for example makes no difference.

To give a bit of background our work flow tends to be creating files with layers in Photoshop and Illustrator, then setting up reports in InDesign and switching the layers on and off in the linked files.
The issue arises when we update the linked files and re-link them, they then auto re-scale to unusual percentages (48.69029028831326%)

If anyone has any clues as to how to resolve this issue I would be very grateful

Relinking? Or updating modified links? I mean, are the images actually changing at all?

That’s weird that “File handling/preserve image dimensions when re-linking” makes no difference. Hm.

It has the same effect if I relink or update the link. The changes to the images are usually minimal, changing colours etc. The overall image pixel size doesn’t change. There may be an additional layer added in Photoshop or illustrator but then resaved as the same file with the same name.

Well, adding or removing layers in the program can cause issues. I wonder if it has to do with something like what Sandee described in the section “The Riddle of the Bounding Box” here:

I had the same issue and it took me way too long to figure out that it was that Content-Aware Fit was set to default. I fixed the problem in “Preferences/General/Uncheck Make Content-Aware Fit the default frame fitting option”.

      I hope this helps!
