      Hi

I need to create an interactive PDF that has INTERNAL & EXTERNAL information on it – I need to create a PDF that when the EXTERNAL button is clicked the INTERNAL info is hidden – Is this possible??

Can I create a PDF for each & maybe embed one PDF into the other?? Not sure this is even possible!!

      Cheers

      Carlo

      Hi, Carlo,

Maybe working with layers can help you.

Show and hide layers is not an option for the buttons, inside InDesign.
But you can finish your PDF with Acrobat Professional, where yes, we have the show and hide actions.

OK cool thanks Xevi – If the layers are hidden then wont the page still be visible as a blank page?

I have Acrobat Professional CC – where are the Show/Hide options?

      cheers

@carlo: Can be done in Indesign. What you need to do is to add two buttons that are the “triggers”. Then make buttons (with distinctive names) for all the internal and external text. In the buttons panel, tell the “trigger” to show/hide those buttons you don’t need to see. ex. Clicking on “external” hides all the “internal” buttons. If you work with layers, make sure they are all visible.

      Hi Gert…

Thats great thanks! So you’re saying convert everything thats for internal to a ‘Button A’ and everything for External to ‘Button B’ – Each on their own layer? This will hide the ‘layer’ but not the page right?

      Cheers
      Carlo

It doesn’t hide the layer, it hides the frames that are labeled. Here’s a link, click on the NL or FR button on top and see the text change (color)
