I’m working on an InDesign book, and I’ve got hundreds of cross-references pointing every which way across all the chapters. I just got comments back from the client and I want to start working on the document as a new version, so I do a “Save Book As” and also Save As for each of the chapter documents. Now, when I open the chapters, the cross-references pointing to different pages in different chapters are all broken (red icon). Obviously this is because it’s looking for the v1 document, when I’m now working on the v2 document. Is there any way to resolve this, and have the cross-references update with this new version I’m working on?

      Relink cross-references

If the missing destination text has been moved to a different document, or if the document containing the destination text is renamed, you can relink the cross-reference. When you relink, any changes made to the source cross-reference are removed.

      1. In the Cross-References panel, select the cross-reference you want to relink.

      2. Choose Relink Cross-Reference from the panel menu.

      3. Locate the document in which the destination text appears, and then click Open.
If any other destination text appears in that document, you can relink additional cross-references.

Oh jeez, it was that easy, wasn’t it? I thought I had tried that but I guess that was the one option I must have skipped over! Thanks!
