No indentation after blank row

I am a beginner in InDesign and is working on a book where I do not want any indentation of the body text in the first paragraph. The following paragraphs should use indentation until I insert a blank row.

I have created two paragraph styles to get the first part going (the second style is following the first and is then followed by the second again and again…). But I would like the bond to break once I insert an empty row and automatically switch back to the first paragraph style.

Is this possible? It is a fairly standard way to layout your book and I think there has to be a simple way.

Peter, you could set the second style as the next style of the first one, so that each time you type the return key InDesign automatically apply the second one.
After several second style paragraphs you have to manually set the first style to start over again.

      Is it clear?

      Hi Claudio,

Yes, that is what I have done (although I failed to explain it properly in my post). I actually have three paragraph styles linked. A sub header which is followed by the non-indented which is followed by the indented which is followed by itself, etc.

Another way of doing this is to do a search/replace using GREP to locate the empty rows and then change the paragraph style of the following paragraph but it is a bit clumsy. I thought there was a way to fully automate it.
